What to me, it is …

This piece is for any individual who is open minded and whose thoughts can be open ended, also.

I never recognized of the term ‘Black Background’ up until i moved to the UK a few years back, making me a part of the African diaspora and rather presenting me to the concept of being ‘Black’.

While in Africa, i only knew of AFRICA DAY; the yearly event produced to honor the beginning of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) (currently the African Union) on May 25 1963

While i do recognize the location and idea of BLACK HISTORY MONTH in the UK and the United states of America, i am sadly not a component of that background, neither does the ‘history’ straight put on me, my ancestors or ethnicity.

I happen to be an initial generation immigrant, making me (still) NIGERIAN by citizenship (as of yet) and AFRICAN by ethnicity.

I am not a ‘Black’ guy, i am an African male who takes place to fall under the race; ‘Black’.

I directly really feel that the concept of ‘Black’, utilizing race as my fore identification is flawed, i originated from somewhere, and that someplace is Abonnema, Rivers state, Nigeria– one of Africa’s 54 sovereign states.
